Random Ruminations – December 17

Running off at the keyboard while wondering if will get my holiday shopping done in time. Doubtful, well maybe. Who knows.

#Stop the presses, Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream is now open on Broughton Street. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, please!

#Have you visited Bowtie BBQ Company yet? They are on Savannah’s South side on Waters Avenue near Eisenhower. Nice build out on the location. Food is good too. Check out my story here.

#Join us tomorrow (Sunday) morning for Eat It and Like It with Jesse Blanco. We are exploring some great food in the tiny towns along the Southern coast. There are some really good eats in there. Set your alarm or your DVR. It’s a good one. 7:30am on WSAV-TV

#Did you miss our announcement this week on our big Bird and Bubbles event we are having next month? Savannah’s first Fried Chicken and bubbles dinner. Thursday, January 19th, Downtown Savannah. All you can eat and drink of both for $60 per person. Click here to read the full story. Click here to buy tickets.

#Those of you on Hilton Head Island can save a few bucks on holiday cheer. Our friends at Hilton Head Wine and Spirits Shop are offering fans of our TV show 10 percent off. All you have to do is mention Eat It and Like It with Jesse Blanco. How about that?

#No plans for Christmas Eve? A couple of area restaurants are celebrating the tradition Italian “Feast of Seven Fishes” Pacci Italian Kitchen and Bar inside of the Brice Hotel will be having a special dinner as well Cuoco Pazzo Cucina Italiana at 606 Abercorn Street. Prices vary, reservations are required.

#Leopold’s Ice Cream is hosting some Monday night fun through January 23rd. Crafts and fun for the kids beginning at 5:30pm, then a family movie. Ice cream and movies? Perfect. visit leopoldsicecream.com for details.

#Things have been quiet on the ‘new restaurant’ scene lately. Of course the big announcement was the Kessler Project along River Street that will house a few restaurants. That’s obviously a couple of years away, but if the whispers I hear about what might go in there-food wise- are even remotely true, this Cuban will moon walk down MLK in a speedo. Well, maybe.

#Meanwhile work continues on Prohibition, the Irish Pub/Restaurant being built out on MLK adjacent to the new Fairfield Inn Hotel.  I will be updating you soon.

#Farm Bluffton is now open, by the way. I haven’t had the chance to visit yet, but I am hearing great things.

#If you like to plan such things (or a night out with your significant other) Savannah Restaurant Week is coming soon. Winter dates are January 26 through February 5th. More information by clicking here.

#Immediately following that is one of the best food festivals along coastal Georgia or South Carolina for that matter. Whiskey Wine and Wildlife on Jekyll Island was a huge hit in its first year last April. Dates are being moved up a bit this year. February 9-12, 2017 at the Westin Jekyll Island. Make plans to join us. It very well could be the perfect Valentines Day getaway. Click here for more information.

#One of my favorite parts of what I do is shining a light on people doing great things with food. There are so many, but Le Cafe Gourmet is a tiny French Bakery just off of Broughton Street downtown. After being featured on our TV show a couple of weeks ago, I am told they have been overwhelmed by customers. Fabulous. Missed the show? See it here.

#That’s the easy way of reminding you that all of our episodes are on-line. They air on TV Sunday morning and they are on the web by Sunday night. eatitandlikeit.com

#If your holiday plans over the next couple of weeks take you to Atlanta (and you love food) please visit Ponce City Market. Thank me later.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and wonderful holiday season!

See you on TV,

Jesse
