Random Ruminations April 1st

Running off at the keyboard while trying not to be too much of a fool.

*After a few weeks of re-runs, new episodes of Eat It and Like It with Jesse Blanco resume Sunday morning. Gluten Free tomorrow. Season wraps May 28th

*Gottlieb’s Bakery is open for business. Closed Sunday. Visit them Monday morning, 7:30am 1100 Eisenhower Drive, Unit 28. Meanwhile, if you missed the announcement weeks back, here is my story.

*Big news downtown a couple of weeks ago with the closing of Sapphire Grill on Congress Street ending a 22 year run. My story here.

*One window closes, another opens. An update on celebrity chef Sean Brock’s Husk coming to Savannah. Get caught up on the progress here.

*Fork and Dagger is a brand new sandwich shop at 609 Abercorn Street. Former owner of FORM Cheesecakes. Doing sandwiches and cheesecakes. Breakfast and lunch only and getting great reviews so far.

*East End Provisions is the working title for the new spot going into the corner of Broughton Street and Price in Savannah. The old Juarez restaurant. It’s a Gaslight Group project. Same great folks that own B. Matthew’s Eatery, 5 Spot and more.

*Speaking of B. Matthew’s Eatery,  if you mention Eat It and Like It, you get 10% off your next dinner. True story and dinner only.

*Big news this week is Proof and Provisions going into The DeSoto Hotel. As of August 1st it will no longer be a Hilton. As of mid-summer its going to be spectacular. The full story right here.

*Savannah Square Pops are perfect for this heat we’ve been beating back already. 22 flavors (one for each square). Unique flavors like Strawberry Balsamic and Vanilla Been with fresh lemon. Delicious. Find more about them here. They are located downtown Savannah.

*A lot of good food truck food out there.  Big Bon Pizza Food Truck has my vote for the best of those I’ve tasted. Which admittedly is quite a few, but not all of them. See them? Try them. You will Eat It and Like It

*By the way, I wanted to state for the record for those that don’t know. We have a policy here of not talking about bad food. That said, I’d like to say that I eat more of it than I’d like to in search of good food. Too many people just don’t care. That’s unfortunate.

*Atlanta Food and Wine Festival is a great time. Two months away, June 1-4. Hope to see you there.

*Have some good food or drink related intel you’d like to share? Leave me a tip. Tips@eatitandlikeit.com and yes, you shall remain anonymous.

*Speaking of good intel, there is a lot of it I have been gathering. Good stuff coming. Keep an eye out this week.

*This I can share, Bull Street Tacos coming in July to the Starland Neighborhood.  Everything house made.

*When Pinkie Masters closed, the new spot was named “The Original” due to there being a Pinkie Masters bar on the River. That bar is gone, so The Original is now called “The Original Pinkie Masters” I’ll drink to that.

*Sign is up at Henny Penny Cafe and Art Space on Bull Street.  Whats that about? Read here.

See you on TV,

Jesse
