Random Ruminations

With Restaurant Week fun and Valentine’s Weekend clearly behind us, it’s a good time to enjoy a little bit of a quiet time at area restaurants before March rolls in and crowds begin to build again. Unless, of course, you enjoy large crowds when you go out to eat.

Hilton Head Island Seafood Festival

  • In case you missed it, Green Truck Pub is now open on Mondays. Their first was February 16th.
  • Right down street from Green Truck on Habersham, Cotton & Rye is going to do wonders for the corridor. Read all about it here.
  • Still more for Savannah’s Downtown Victorian District: Sandfly BBQ’s new location at Barnard and Henry Streets is now open and what a beauty it is.
  • More new coming on the scene. Sarah and Kurtis Schumm, owners of Tybee Island Social Club and Tybee Fish Camp are rolling out a third spot on the island.  The Bo Bien Hut is coming to Tybee. “Bo Bien” meaning “beach” in Vietnamese. More on this very soon.
  • Hilton Head Island Seafood Festival is March 1st through the 7th. A number of special events are planned that week. And of course the finale at Shelter Cove on Saturday the 7th. Click here for more details and how to get tickets.
  • So guess what? Fiddlers Crab House on River Street is hosting a beer pairing dinner. The menu is a complete departure from anything you will find at that restaurant. I’ll be there along with some friends to enjoy it.  (912) 644-7172 for information and reservations.
  • For your “save it for later” file. Eat It and Like It is putting together a fantastic campaign for the American Diabetes Association’s Kiss a Pig fundraiser. And you get to Eat It and Like It all over town. Details soon.
  • Best way to stay on top of all of those details? Sign up for our newsletter. Without question, the best foodie newsletter in town. Reviews, previews, and all kinds of good stuff in there. Sign up by clicking here.
  • National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend is coming. Twenty-five area restaurants making a special dessert out of their favorite Girl Scout cookies.  Click here to see a full list of participants. ONLY February 27, 28 and March 1st.
  •  Don’t forget to join us for Savannah’s #1 rated local television show. Sunday mornings 7:30am on WSAV-TV. This weekend we are hittin’ the BBQ.

See you on TV.

Jesse
