Husk Savannah Update

The biggest question swirling around these days (and the most searched terms on this website over the last 4 weeks) Husk/Savannah/Opening. Clearly inquiring minds want to know.

Back in September, a national announcement was made regarding Husk Savannah in conjunction with our announcement locally. Husk Savannah was coming to town. The opening date was set for December the 4th.  That day has now come and gone. So what gives?

If you’ve driven by the location for Husk at 12 West Oglelthorpe in the heart of downtown Savannah, you can clearly see work continues fast and furious. A sign went up a couple of weeks ago, so the finishing touches are falling in to place.

I’m told the delay comes from all attention right now internally going to get Husk Greenville up and running efficiently before turning the focus to Savannah. Husk Greenville did open late last month. Executive Chef/Partner Sean Brock has been very active via social media from that location.

Back in September, President of the Neighborhood Dining Group, David Howard told us it was tough to commit to any dates because they were trying to open two restaurants hundreds of miles apart essentially at the same time. There are two different procedures, two different staffs to train, two different sets of everything basically to get going.

Husk Greenville and Husk Savannah were originally scheduled to open months apart. The timing just happened to fall where they are opening within 30-45 days of each other.

The answer to the magic question, then, if not December 4th? “We expect Husk to be open shortly after Christmas” is the official quote I have been given. It will be led by Executive Chef Sean Brock. His Chef de Cuisine is Tyler Williams. The pair held a cooking demonstration at the Savannah Food and Wine Festival last month ahead of their anticipated opening in December.

Good things come to those who wait. I’ve seen this space and it will be nothing short of gorgeous.

Husk Savannah is coming. Very soon. Hang tight. In the meantime, click here for a preview of what you can expect.

See you on TV,

Jesse
