HH Prime offers special menu

From the “Looking for something different to eat” this holiday season department allow me to offer you something pretty special they are doing at HH Prime on Hilton Head Island.

I’ve made no secret of the fact that I have very much enjoyed HH Prime in the past. We featured them in our Vacation/Staycation episode last spring and have mentioned them a couple of times here and there. The steakhouse (located inside of the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront) on the island is one of the better steakhouses in the region. There are a couple of spots in Savannah to find a steak that good. Otherwise, you are going to have to make the drive to Charleston. Not that there is anything wrong with that. At all.

Where the twist comes this time around with HH Prime a special menu they have rolled out the last couple of months.  It’s part of their ongoing “Flavors of the World” program. The program is a yearly offering of a menu from somewhere, anywhere in the world as created by the Omni property in that particular location. Yes, anywhere in the world.

In its 9th year, the Flavors of the World program requires that chefs from all Omni properties across America travel to San Antonio for three days of intense training to learn the dishes prepared by that years “host” country/property. This year the dishes were offered from Chile. The program was called “Destanacion Chile!” And the menu, as you might expect was phenomenal.

The dishes include empanadas, choritos (spicy steamed mussels), Bacalao con Tomatican (seared sea bass with braised tomato, yellow corn, cilantro salad) and many more. The sea bass was the kind of dish you will talk about for days. Just wonderful.

Of course, when you have a great line up of food like that you must include the wine. Throughout the promotion, each participating hotel will feature eight to 11 hand-selected Chilean wines in its bars and restaurants. Wine selections consist of favorites such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Riesling; and new discoveries like Carmenere. Wines are available by the bottle and in 6- or 9-ounce pours. In addition to wine, guests can also enjoy cocktails made with Chile’s national spirit, Pisco, a grape distillate.

As I said, the menu is fantastic. Not everyone in your party has to participate in the program. You can have a juicy steak while your dining partner enjoys a few flavors of South America. Certainly nothing wrong with that.  I have yet to have anything at HH Prime that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed. You are very likely to Eat It and Like It. The program runs through December 31st. A perfect spot to enjoy during some holiday down time with or without the children.

The restaurant is inside of the resort, but anyone is welcome to dine there. There is a guard house on the property, just tell them you are headed to dinner and they will wave you by. No muss, no fuss.

See you on TV,

Jesse
