Fried Chicken and Champagne 2017

Who ever thought fried chicken and champagne could be so good? Of course we did. That was the reason why we threw a little party Thursday night at Kitchen 320 inside of the B Historic Hotel in downtown Savannah. It think it is fair to say Eat It and Like It’s 1st Fried Chicken and Champagne event was a huge hit.

As we’ve come to gather at our events, guests began arriving early. Our start time was 7:00pm, but by 6:45 we had nearly half our 70 guests in attendance at the door waiting to eat, drink and be merry. Naturally, the party started early. With a special thanks to one of our sponsors Nicolas Feuillatte for their participation in this event. We poured both their Brut and Brut Rose. We also poured a Spanish Cava. Three excellent choices for the evening.

There were some hiccups out of the box. In an effort to deliver hot, crispy fried chicken to a room full of hungry people, Chef Will and his staff spent a few minutes playing catch up in getting everyone food in a timely fashion, but catch up they did. And once they did, there were no shortage of smiling faces. You know its a good party when about half of your guys stay long after the official end of the event and enjoyed one of Savannah’s prettier venues at Kitchen 320.

Chef Will used a technique he says he got from his grandmother and modernized it a little bit. His fried chicken recipe called for a 24 brine in sweet tea, then a 24 marinade in buttermilk. The result was classic, crunchy fried chicken that not a single person in the room (that I spoke to at any rate) didn’t absolutely love.

By the end of the night, I’d been asked multiple times if we would do it again. Maybe a 2nd annual Eat It and Like It Fried Chicken and Champagne event? If we have a good fit? Why not. One thing we can guarantee, and I told the crowd in attendance the same, you can count on a smaller crowd to maximize enjoyment for all. I don’t know how interested we are in doing special dinners for 100 plus people.

If you missed it, have no fear we will do it again. We will work out some of the logistical issues we ran into early on this time around and make it one of Savannah’s best culinary events. Eat It and Like It Fried Chicken and Champagne event. We will certainly keep you posted on the whens and the wheres.

Thanks to all that attended!

See you on TV,

Jesse
