Chocolate

chocolat-by-adam-turoniThere are a number of episodes that we’ve discussed revisiting in this, our fourth season of Eat It and Like It. So many things have changed in three years and we feel like people would appreciate a “where are they now” type of look back. The obvious no brainer for us was our episode on chocolate. It was our first. It will always be special to us. For those of you that remember that first episode, it ended with me making chocolate covered bacon with Chef Roberto Leoci. That segment was shot on a Sunday morning at 8am. Roberto had worked deep into Saturday night at his restaurant. Meanwhile, that same Saturday night was my birthday party. Yes, we were absolutely exhausted that Sunday morning.

But that was a long time ago.  Feels like ten years. Not three.

This year we decided to revisit the chocolate episode, but we wanted to do more. If you are a regular viewer, then you know we have been traveling a bit more than we have in previous seasons. This show is an example of that.  So here they are, the features you saw in Chocolate version 2.0.

Chocolate Cake Charleston is the creation of the chocolate cake lady. I will share a little bit of what was going through my mind when I produced that segment. She is one of the best kept secrets in the City of Charleston. Unless you know, you don’t know. Well, I wanted to make the segment somewhat secretive as well. All you really saw was delicious chocolate cake and secluded beautiful streets of the city. The segment was all about secrecy. The cake is worth digging up. Trust me.

All Things Chocolate and More    In 2011, I called this shop at its old location and asked if they’d be interested in being on my show.  At the time, no one had heard of it. It had never even aired yet. They were nervous, but we got through it. Three generations are working in this chocolate heaven in Richmond Hill, Georgia. They can do practically anything with chocolate, they make it all in house. It’s an amazing shop. Well worth the drive if you don’t live on “The Hill”

Chocolat by Adam Turoni   When we first caught up with him, he had a tiny studio in Savannah’s Starland District. Now, he has his own shop on Broughton Street, Savannah’s “Shopping” street, and numerous very large accounts in hotels and supermarkets. Adam will tell you he hasn’t even scratched the surface of what he plans to do. His rise has been fascinating to watch and the chocolates are unbelieveable as well.

chocuterieOlive and Sinclair  I will be honest, my favorite story in a group of great ones. A pastry chef teaches himself to make artisan chocolates and within five years he’s available in over forty states and five countries. The chocolates are incredible. Different, but delicious. You can find them at any Whole Foods Store in Savannah or Hilton Head Island.

We hope you enjoyed this one.  We had a blast bringing it to you.

See you on TV.

Jesse
